On July 6th, in the framework of the project "Capacity Development of Civil Society in the Regions Essentially Populated with Ethnic Minorities  in Georgia", Levan Mikeladze Foundation organized the round-table discussion for the representatives of Samtskhe-Javakheti Media, NGOs and local municipality. The discussion took place in Akhaltsikhe. The topics of discussion were Georgia-EU relations, Visaliberalisation, Associate Agreement, opportunities of DCFTA for Georgia.

During the discussion Giorgi Chitadze (Head of Trade Negotiation and DCFTA Implementation Coordination Division of Ministry of Economy of Georgia), and Irakli Tabliashvili (Media expert ), made interesting presentations about the above mentioned topics. In the end of the discussion informative brochures were disseminated about EU-Georgia relations, EU values, and Visa Free Travel in EU, translated into Russian, Azerbaijan, Armenian and Georgian languages.

On Juky 5th, in the framework of the project "Capacity Development of Civil Society in the Regions Essentially Populated with Ethnic Minorities in Georgia" Levan Mikeladze Foundation organized the media training for media representatives of Samtskhe-Javakheti region. The meeting took place in Akhaltsikhe. The media trainer was Ekaterine pirtskhalava, who discussed the following topics: News writing techniques in modern journalism, the behaviour of audience and its infleunce on planning of media product, the impact of social networks on modern media and the related topics. After the media training the informative brochures about EU-Georgia relations, Visaliberalisation and Association Agreement were disseminated into Georgian, Russian, Azerbaijan, and Armenian languages. The project is implemented with financial support of Open Society Georgia Foundation.

On June 21, 2016, the Levan Mikeladze Foundation held the second meeting of Strategic Communication working group on the topic “How to fight the hostile propaganda”. The meeting was organized in the framework of the project - “National Convention on the EU in Georgia”. The project is carried out in partnership with the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA) and with the financial support of the Slovak Aid and Europe Foundation.

 

The meeting took place in the State Chancellery. It was chaired by Ms. Mariam Rakviashvili, the Deputy State Minister on European and Euro Atlantic Integration and by Ms. Lika Shavgulidze, founder and editor-in-chief of web portal Europe for Georgia.

 

The working group was composed with representatives of government bodies, NGOs, diplomatic missions of various states and the Delegation of the European Union. In total, there were 18 organizations represented in the session.

On May 30, 2016 the Levan Mikeladze Foundation organized the Plenary Session in the framework of the project "National Convention on the EU in Georgia". The President of the Republic of Slovakia, H.E. Anrej Kiska has attended the session and made a welcoming speech. It is worth mentioning that this was the first time in the history of Georgia when the President of the foreign country participated in the event held by a Non-governmental organisation.

On May 19th, in the framework of the project "Capacity Development of Civil Society in the Regions Essentially Populated with Ethnic Minorities  in Georgia", Levan Mikeladze Foundation organized the discussions for Samtskhe-Javakheti region representatives of Media, NGOs and local municipalities. The discussions took place in Ninotsminda and Akhalkalaki municipalities. The topics of discussion were Georgia-EU relations, Visaliberalisation, Association Agreement, opportunities of DCFTA and successful examples in this field. The goal of these meetings were to increase awareness of EU to the presented audience. The translation of the discussion from Georgian into Armenian language was also provided. 

During the discussion Ekaterine khositashvili (representative of MFA of Georgia) and Tornike Nozadze (Head of Strategic Communication Department at Office of the State Minister of Georgia on European and Euroatlantic Integration) made presentations about the above mentioned topics. During the discussion audience asked many interesting questions and interactive discussion took place.

The second WG meeting on Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) took place on May 18th on the topic of Food Safety.  Internal experts, Nino Edilashvili and Ekaterine Burkadze presented the recommendations. International expert, Matty Lamp also shared the experience to the audience. 

Overall, the first working group was highly informative, beneficial and productive for every stakeholder. The meeting was co-chaired by Mikheil Skhiereli (Country Program Manager, Good Governance Fund at Policy and Management Consulting Group LLC) and Mariam Gabunia (The Head of Department for Foreign Trade and International Economic Relations, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Developmen ).  The meeting took place in the framework of the project "National Convention on the EU in Georgia".

On May 6, 2016 the Levan Mikeladze Foundation held the second meeting of Agriculture and Regional Development Working Group on the topic - “Rural Development Strategy”. The meeting was organized in the framework of the project - “National Convention on the EU in Georgia”. The project is carried out in partnership with the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA) and with the financial support of the Slovak Aid and Europe Foundation. 

The meeting took place in the National Library of Georgia. It was chaired by Mr. Lasha Inauri, Deputy Head of Euro Integration Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and by Mr. Ilia Kvitaishvili, founder of Rural and Agricultural Policy and Development Institute.

On April 22nd, in the framework of the project "Capacity Development of Civil Society in the Regions Essentially Populated with Ethnic Minorities in Georgia" Levan Mikeladze Foundation organized the educative meetings at public schools (N 1,3) of Dmanisi for senior pupils. The meetings were conducted by Ekaterine Khositashvili (representative of MFA of Georgia) and Ekaterine Baramidze (The Development Program Director of LMF), who made presentations about EU, Visaliberalization, EU-Georgia relations and related topics. The pupils asked many questions, especially in the field of opportunities to study in EU. During the meetings short documentary film of Toma Chagelishvili, called "Travel in Europe" was shown to the audience, which raised hight interest. In the end of the meetings informative brochures were disseminated about EU-Georgia relations, EU values, and Visa Free Travel in EU. The brochures were translated into Russian, Azerbaijan, Armenian and Georgian languages.

The first WG meeting of Energy and Environment on Electricity Supply Reliability Rules took place on 1st of April, in the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia. Internal expert, Ms. Nino Maghradze and international expert Mr. Peter Marcan presented the recommendations which was consisted of the following issues:Commercial of Quality; Continuity of Supply;Voltage Quality; Mr. Giorgi Shengelia (Deputy Director of International Relations’ Department of Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission) and Mr. Giorgi Vashakmadze (Director of W-Stream Caspian Pipeline Company) were co-chairs of the meeting. In general, WG members were actively engaged in the discussion.

During the discussion Ekaterine khositashvili (representative of MFA of Georgia), Marika Liparteliani (regional coordinator of the information centre on NATO and EU) and Maiko Gabuldani (representative of "Europe for Georgia") made presentations about the above mentioned topics. During the discussion audience asked many interesting questions and interactive discussion took place. In the end of the meetings informative brochures were disseminated about EU-Georgia relations, EU values, and Visa Free Travel in EU. The brochures were translated into Russian, Azerbaijan, Armenian and Georgian languages.
