On July 15 the publication Georgia's Minorities: Breaking Down Barriers To Integration was presented in Akhaltsikhe. The article is one of five in a series for the project Future of Georgia.
Speaker of the meeting was the publication author, associate professor at Tbilisi State University Kakha Gabunia. The session was chaired by the LMF executive director Archil Gegeshidze.
Among attendees were representatives of ethnic and religious minorities, as well as Akhaltsikhe-based NGOs.
The project Future of Georgia is funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden and is implemented in collaboration with Carnegie Europe.

Within the framework of the project Future of Georgia presentation of the publication Re-examining Radicalizing Narratives of Georgia was organized on July 2nd in Zugdidi.
Representatives of local NGOs, self-government and Administered Boundary Line-villages attended this event. The publication was simultaneously presented to those who due to pandemic and disability-related issues were unable to be physically present at the event.
Experts Natia Chankvetadze and Ketevan Murusidze discussed so-called protracted conflicts, focusing on the hindering role of radical narratives in the process of conflict transformation.
Attendees expressed their views that will be included in the final document and presented to the respective public entities.

The project is funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden and is implemented in collaboration with Carnegie Europe. The aim of the project is to analyze contentious social issues in Georgian society and to promote a round of discussions among the public.

The Levan Mikeladze Foundation, in cooperation with the Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA), is implementing the project “National Convention of the European Union in Georgia”. The project is funded by SlovakAid and Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The main goal of the project is to promote direct, transparent, and open dialogue between the state and civil society, to provide them with opinions and expert feedback in various fields. To achieve a desirable result, three working groups were created in the following areas: energy security, external communications strategy, and youth policy.
To this end, on June 11, was held the first meeting of the energy security working group on Zoom. Field experts, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and non-governmental organizations attended the meeting. The event was opened by Mr. Archil Gegeshidze, Executive Director of the Levan Mikeladze Foundation, and Mr. Peter Brezan, Project Manager of the Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association.
At the meeting, local and Slovak experts on energy security presented policy papers. Particularly, the papers discussed the essence of the energy security policy in Georgia and the Slovak Republic. Additionally, best the experience and best practice of foreign countries were also discussed.
The meeting was moderated by Ms. Margalita Arabidze, Deputy Head of Energy Reforms and International Relations Department at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and Mr. Murman Margvelashvili, Director of the analytical center World Experience for Georgia (WEG) and an energy expert.
The next meetings will assess Georgia's energy security using predetermined indicators and also recommendations to the Ministry of Economic and Sustained Development will be developed.

Levan Mikeladze Foundation presented the publication Struggle and Sacrifice: Narratives of Georgia’s Recent History on 4th of June in Gori municipality. The publication was prepared within the framework of the project Future of Georgia, by the invited researcher Keti Sartania.
Among attendees were representatives of local government and Gori-based NGOs.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden and is implemented in collaboration with Carnegie Europe. The aim of the project is to provide holistic analysis of social transformation occurring in Georgian society and to foster round of discussions among public.

On April 13, 2021, the project "Future of Georgia" was launched. The project is jointly implemented by Carnegie Europe and the Levan Mikeladze Foundation. The project is financially supported by the Government of Sweden. The aim of the project is to analyze various aspects of social transformation in Georgian society and to facilitate public debate. The event was held in the format of a webinar, which was attended by Tom de Waal, Senior Fellow with Carnegie Europe, Archil Gegeshidze, Director of the Levana Mikeladze, Dustin Gilbreath, Deputy Director for Research at the Caucasus Research Resource Center, and Nino Lejava, an invited researcher of the project. During the webinar, two presentations were made: First, the results of a public opinion poll conducted specifically for the project, and second, an analytical article "Georgia's unfinished search for its place in Europe". The main findings of the paper were presented by the author of the article, Nino Lejava. The presentations were followed br a discussion where the registered attendees had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers of the webinar. On February 26, 2021, the Levan Mikeladze Foundation organized a webinar on the topic: "Georgia's Neighborhood: Current Events and Processes". Similar events are held annually and are dedicated to the memory and anniversary of the birth of Levan Mikeladze. This year the webinar was dedicated to his 64th birthday.
The webinar took place in the format of a panel discussion, in which the invited speakers reviewed the current events in neighboring countries and, in general, in the region, and their impact on the political and economic interests of Georgia. It is noteworthy that the events around Nagorno-Karabakh last autumn significantly changed the existing balance of power in the region, and a new status quo began to shape. In the emerging new conditions, new risks and opportunities arise for Georgia, which require careful analysis. Experienced invited experts who, during their long professional careers, had to directly deal with the countries of the region either as high-ranking diplomats or scientific experts, shared their interesting observations and information on all those topical issues that are necessary for an adequate assessment of the security environment in Georgia. The general consensus that emerged during the discussion is that it is necessary to continue systematic discussion and exchange of ideas in a similar or different format. The Levan Mikeladze Foundation has expressed its readiness to contribute to this process within the framework of its competence and resources.
