The Levan Mikeladze Foundation, in cooperation with the Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA), is implementing the project "National Convention on the EU in Georgia" with financial support from SlovakAid and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
Within the framework of the project, on May 19th, 2022, the second meeting of experts working on external communication was held at the Hilton Garden Inn Tbilisi Chavchavadze. It was attended by experts in the field, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and non-governmental organizations.
The draft of the concept paper on external communication prepared by local and Slovak experts was discussed at the meeting. Georgian expert Dimitri Tskitishvili spoke on the Concept of Georgia’s External Communication Strategy. Also a Slovak expert, Ondrej Gazovic shared with the participants feedback on Georgia's external communication strategy. After the presentation, a discussion was held.
The meeting was moderated by Ivane Chkhikvadze, EU Integration Program Manager at Open Society Foundation Georgia.
On April 26, Deputy Head of the Youth Agency of Georgia, Vakhtang Baakashvili, youth policy expert, Marina Zhvania, and the Levan Mikeladze Foundation Project Assistant, Tamta Darsalia, went on a study visit to Bratislava, Slovakia. The study visit is carried out within the framework of the project "National Convention on the EU in Georgia."
The purpose of the trip was to familiarize them with the system of work and the experience of state bodies, institutions, and NGOs dealing with youth policy issues.
On 26 April, the study visit participants met with representatives of the Association of Slovak Youth Information and Counseling Centers (ZIPCeM) and the Center for Slovak Training Firms (SCCF). At the meetings, the participants got acquainted with the system of cooperation between youth organizations, the mechanisms for recognizing non-formal education, and the labor qualifications of young people.
On April 27, meetings were held with representatives of the Pontis Foundation and the Impact Games innovation platform. The goal of the platform is to develop digital and board games that will have a positive impact on the community, especially young people. On the same day, the study tour participants visited the Youth Council of Slovakia.
On April 28, the study visit continued with meetings with the Slovak Youth Institute "IUVENTA" and a representative of the Slovak Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports. During the meetings, the Slovak colleagues shared their knowledge of the youth policy strategy with the Georgian participants.
On the last day of the study visit, April 29, a meeting was held with representatives of the Slovak Youth Center "Youth of the Street" and "Slovak Junior Achievements".

In the framework of the project, on May 5th, the second meeting of the youth policy working group was held in the Youth Agency. Field experts, representatives of the Youth Agency, and non-governmental organizations attended the meeting.
At the meeting, local and Slovak experts on youth policy presented policy papers. The Georgian expert, Marina Zhvania discussed Development Quality Assurance of Youth Work in Georgia. The Slovak expert, Ivana Ulicna discussed two topics: 1. Recognition and Validation of the Skills Acquired Through Youth work; 2. Digital Platforms for Youth Work Management.
After the presentations, the participants engaged in a discussion. The entire meeting was moderated by Ms.Irina Pruidze, partner at Egeria Solutions. During the meeting, the Deputy Head of the Youth Agency, Mr. Vakhtang Baakishvili, delivered a speech to the participants.

The overall goal of the project is to foster structured dialogue between diverse groups across the country about various aspects of ongoing complex societal transformation.
The project will provide a comprehensive analysis of Georgia’s current identity that will be the basis for serious discussion in society about priorities for the future and the advantages and disadvantages of different European nation-state models. Phased approach in turn will help form a coherent, considered and strategic approach to the country’s biggest long-term problem, its protracted conflicts. The audience will be first of all influential voices and policymakers in Georgian society, and also Georgia’s international partners in government, aid and finance.
