"Georgia's Neighborhood: Current Events and Processes"

On February 26, 2021, the Levan Mikeladze Foundation organized a webinar on the topic: "Georgia's Neighborhood: Current Events and Processes". Similar events are held annually and are dedicated to the memory and anniversary of the birth of Levan Mikeladze. This year the webinar was dedicated to his 64th birthday.
The webinar took place in the format of a panel discussion, in which the invited speakers reviewed the current events in neighboring countries and, in general, in the region, and their impact on the political and economic interests of Georgia. It is noteworthy that the events around Nagorno-Karabakh last autumn significantly changed the existing balance of power in the region, and a new status quo began to shape. In the emerging new conditions, new risks and opportunities arise for Georgia, which require careful analysis. Experienced invited experts who, during their long professional careers, had to directly deal with the countries of the region either as high-ranking diplomats or scientific experts, shared their interesting observations and information on all those topical issues that are necessary for an adequate assessment of the security environment in Georgia. The general consensus that emerged during the discussion is that it is necessary to continue systematic discussion and exchange of ideas in a similar or different format. The Levan Mikeladze Foundation has expressed its readiness to contribute to this process within the framework of its competence and resources.
