On January 30th, 2017 Levan Mikeladze Foundation launched the closing conference of the project "Train the Messenger - EU, Human Rights and Family Values". The executive director of Levan Mikeladze Foundation - Mr. Archil Gegeshidze and Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands- Mrs. Floor Nuiten-Elzinga made the welcoming speeches for the distinguished audience.
The meeting was attended by Ramin Igidov, Sheikh of all Georgia and head of the administration of Muslims of Georgia and Archimandrite Anatoli Ivanyuk who discussed the conducted trainings with religious leaders in Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti with Catholic priests.
During the meeting the achieved outcomes of the project and the faced challenges of the conducted trainings were discussed by the invitied experts: Vano Chkhikvadze (EU Integration Programme Manager at Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF), Vakhushti Menabde (Associate Professor Law Major at Ilia State University), Qetevan Abashidze (Adjunct Professor at Ilia State University and Free University Tbilisi, European human rights Law and EU law) and Olvier Reisner (Jean Monnet Professor of European and Caucasian Studies at Ilia State University).
The closing conference was attended by representatives of Patriarchate, Muslim religious leaders, Latin and Armenian priests from the regions. Representatives of different NGOs, govermental bodies and diplomatic corps participated in the meeting as well.
In the framework of the project different trainings were conducted with religious leaders of ethnic minorities about the benefits of the Association Agreement with EU, rights of religious minorities in EU , and the values of EU.
The Levan Mikeladze Foundation implemented the project “Train the Messenger ” with financial support of Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia.
