"Train the messenger"- workshop in Akhaltsikhe

On June 9th, 2017 in the framework of the project “Train the Messenger ” the Levan Mikeladze Foundation held   a workshop for religious minorities leaders of Samtskhe-Javakheti region in “Hotel  Gino Wellness Rabati”, Akhaltsikhe.

The meeting was attended by the Latin and Armenian Catholic religious leaders, from Samtskhe-Javakheti region, as well as by the orthodox priests of Armenian Apostolic church and their parishes.

At the meeting the invited project experts: Oliver Reisner (Jean Monnet Professor of European and Caucasian Studies at Ilia State University), Ketevan Abashidze (Adjunct Professor at Ilia State University and Free University Tbilisi, European human rights Law and EU law), and Mikheil Mirziashvili- (Chairman of the Board, the Center for Development and Democracy) made presentations.

 

The workshop discussed the following topics: EU institutions and rules and procedures of Visa Free Travel. Challenges of religious buildings and education. The participants also got acquainted with European models of relationship between religion and state.  The workshop was conducted in Russian language.

Since May 15, 2017, the LevanMikeladze Foundation implements the project “Train the Messenger "” with financial support of Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.The goal of the project is to promote integration of minorities and develop capacities of religious leaders to fight discrimination and stigmatization via educating about Human Rights and international Human Rights Institutions
